HITCHHIKER Cinema is an independent film production company founded in 2012 by producer Barbara Janišová Feglová. The company has a long-standing dedication to the development of creative documentaries with a social impact and the production of auteur films with a focus on engaging topics
It stands behind the series Female First, Slovak Cinema, Unsung Heroes and the recently completed series My Emigrant. The film A Hole in the Head (directed by Robert Kirchhoff, 2016) won the 2018 Sun in a Net national film award for Best Documentary Film. HITCHHIKER Cinema collaborates with the emerging generation of Slovak documentary filmmakers. Its portfolio includes the following feature-length debuts: The Golden Land (directed by Dominik Jursa, 2020), The Commune (directed by Jakub Julény, 2020) and Lines (directed by Barbora Sliepková, 2021), the latter which won Best World Documentary Film, Best Debut, Best Sound Design in the Opus Bonum international competition at Ji.hlava IDFF 2021.

Barbara Janišová Feglová

In 1990, Barbara graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia with a degree in Film Theory and Criticism. With experience in film journalism, scriptwriting and PR, she has been working as a producer since 2006 and is the co-founder of CHARACTER - Film Development Association, which focuses on education in the field of film and the support of auteur audio-visual projects in their development phase and their alternative distribution. In 2012, she founded the production company HITCHHIKER Cinema, focusing on socially engaging topics. In 2018, HITCHHIKER Cinema received the Best Documentary Film award at the Sun in a Net, Slovak national film awards, for the film A Hole in the Head (Diera v hlave, 2016). She is a member of the Slovak Film and Television Academy and she is one of Emerging Producers of 2018 within the industry platform of Ji.hlava IDFF.

Roman Pivovarník

Roman Pivovarník

Roman Pivovarník has a degree in Film Production from the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. During his six years of studies, he produced 20 short student films/assignments. His film Views is his second student film in the position of writer/director. He works for HITCHHIKER Cinema as a junior producer and is one of the first film eco-consultants in Slovakia.
